"Question of dignity": Villepin orders Retailleau to choose between his ministry and the LR presidency

They will not be going on vacation together. Former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin attacked Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau this Friday on the set of Les Grandes Gueules : "We are in a moment of political disintegration and desertion of the political mission."

"There are ministers, and I will only mention the Minister of the Interior (Bruno Retailleau, editor's note ), who do not feel bound by the duties of their office and feel much more in a position to represent their political movement than to defend the interests of the French people," he says. He cites as proof " the growing insecurity " and "the major challenges" facing his ministry.

Because Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau is also the president of the Republicans. This is clearly incompatible with his role, which, according to Dominique de Villepin, should force him to choose between the two: "It's a question of dignity! He's not here to represent the counter-revolution or a reactionary right in government. He's here to hold the reins of Place Beauvau and serve the French people, regardless of their political stripe."

And to address a tackle to the new slogan of Bruno Retailleau and LR " The France of honest people ": "Which honest people are we talking about? Would we distinguish among the French ones from the others? I do not do my shopping when I have my ministerial functions and I do not distinguish according to the French and do not stigmatize one from the other."

"I fear that for Mr. Retailleau, the France of honest people would have a color, distinguishing all those who for him do not have their place," adds Dominique de Villepin.

"The France of honest people is not in the mouth of the Minister of the Interior, it is the France of all," he says.

A charge in the form of a political program to do better than the others? "I am not currently a candidate, either for the post of Prime Minister or for the post of Budget Minister," assures Dominique de Villepin.

And what about the 2027 presidential election? "I'm your man and at your disposal," he promises to the Big Mouths , assuring that he will return once a hypothetical presidential campaign is launched.
